EASTBOURNE APPEAL
I The Eastbourne or East Harbour appear has now realised £190, and will conclude tomorrow with a flag-planting ceremony. The plot set aside for planting is near the wharf gates, at Rona Bay, by the tree planted in 1911 to celebrate the Coronation of King George V. ■' • ■' <r In a special appeal to East Harbour residents, the Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr. E. W. Wise) and the chairman of the Hutt County Council (Mr. D. R. Hoggard) state: — "The ceremony will be held at 2.45 p.m. and we cordially invite all residents of Eastbourne and the bays to be present and take part in the planting of flags. At 3 p.m. the pupils of Muritai School and the Convent School will take part in the ceremony. Flags will also be sold on the morning boats to town and those residents buying flags on the boats may have them planted on their behalf at the Eastbourne plot by handing them back to the sellers or by placing them in boxes that will be provided at the gangways at Wellington. We sincerely hope that as many residents as possible will be present at the ceremony or arrange to have their flags planted on their behalf. "The Mayoress (Mrs. Wise) and Mrs. Hoggard specially invite ladies of Eastbourne and the bays to be present at the ceremony. . "The occasion will not "be merely another effort on behali: of the fund. It will be our opportunity to pay tri- [ bute to the memory of King George V at the spot where his Coronation is commemorated." '. ._ .
