"SURPRISE PARTY"

An enjoyable "surprise party" was held recently at the residence of Mrs. E. R. Robson, Bridge Street, Rongotal. The party was given in honour of Mr, Rodger Naylor, of Nelson. Those present spent a very happy evening, dance music being supplied by Mr. Ivor l.obinson with his piano accordion. Much amusement was caused by a "turtle race" and "elopement race," the winners being Miss V. Sparke* and Mr. Arthur Wadsworth. Numerous competitions were held, after which supper was served in the sitting-room, pride of place. being given to a beautifully i decorated cake.'- • ■ v

The health of "his Majesty" -was enthusiastically toasted, after which the guest of honour was also toasted. The proceedings were Drought to a close with- the singing of the National Anthem. •
