MISS SARAH BRANDON.

Many old friends will learn with sincere regret of the death of Miss Sarah Brandon, a member of one of the highlyrespected pioneer families of New Zealand, and who spent most of a long life in Wellington, her residence in early life and later being always in Hobson

Street. ' ' Miss Brandon was ihe second daughter of the late Hon. A. de B. Brandon, M.L.C., and Mrs. Brandon, her parents having a beautiful home in Hobson Street, and their hospitality and kindness were well-known in the early days. Miss Brandon herself, throughout her life, was always ready to help good causes, and no one went in'vain to her for aid when arranging civic or patriotic works. 'She was a great upporter of St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, and for many years, with her sister, Mrs.. Larnach; held the arts stall-each year when the annual effort was made. Miss Brandon was also a great lover, of flowers and a successful horticulture, taking much pleasure in the beauty of her garden. She was fond of .the game of croquet, and was most meticulous in the care of her Jawn.- la all, she was a lady of the "ancien regime," of whom not many, remain, and" her friends will miss her much. She had no illness, enjoying life in her quiet way till- its end which came when she was sleeping at night, caused by heart trouble. Mrs. Larnach and Miss Annie Brandon are her surviving sisters, arid Mr. A. de B. Brandon is her brother.
