GUARANTEED PRICES
REPLY TO BRITISH FARMERS
(Received August 12, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, August 11. The New Zealand High Commissioner's Office, replying to the National Farmers' Union statement, says that the guaranteed prices of New Zealand dairy produce are actually considerably below the London market prices.. Moreover, it points out that the guarantees are given by New Zealand and not.by.the British Government.
A London cable published yesterday stated that, stressing the need for protection of British ■ farmers against "dumpingI.' of surplus New Zealand dairy products, the National Farmers' Union pointed out that the New Zealand Government's guaranteed prices for New Zealand cheese and butter exceed the present London market prices and the average over recent years.
