WAR VETERANS.

"Anzac" writes in support of previous complaints by correspondents on the subject of the insufficient amount by which a disabled man is allowed to supplement his war pension. The pension itself is considered generous enough, but the maximum income the pensioner is allowed to earn is insufficient. "The fit man is capable of earning from £4 to £6 a week. The man who cannot do hard work, owing to the effects of wounds or disabilities incurred on active service, is compelled to try and make provision for himself and wife and family, arid for their welfare in the future, on the sum of £2 15s, or, for example, the .man with, say, a family of three, the total weekly income of £3 ss. Briefly speaking, the Government is of the opinion that the unfit man is only capable of earning £39 a year, the maximum amount he is entitled to earn. In my humble opinion this maximum yearly earning allowed is rather out of'proportion with the liberal pension granted."
