SYDNEY JOCKEY'S DEATH

The death occurred at Parramatta (N.S.W.) recently of the former wellknown flat and hurdle jockey, N. Fruend, who won the Australian Jockey Club Hurdles on the fast and brilliant .lumper, Anorient.

Fruend served his apprenticeship with the Rosehill trainer W. Booth. His weight increased quickly, and this influenced his decision to ride over the hurdles. He was associated with Anonent in most of his jumping successes, also with King's Prize, another horse trained at Rosehill by W. A Ross. He also rode over the jumps for K. C. Stanton. He had a couple of serious falls and retired from riding about a year ago.
