A NOVEL GIFT

PRESENTED TO DR. SARGENT

A novel presentation was made to Dr. Malcolm Sargent at a reception tendered to the distinguished "conductor at the conclusion of last evening* concert by the Wellington Symphony,' Orchestra. ,-. ■ . ;

During ,the concerts recordings were made by a local recording company of several of the numbers played by the orchestra, under Dr. Sargent's baton, and a recording was also made of a congratulatory address by Mr. D. A. Ewen, president of the orchestra, who tendered the reception to Dr. Sargent.

These recordings were played during the reception and will no doubt serve as a pleasant recollection to Dr. Sargent of a memorable event in the musical history of Wellington. They will be autographed' by members- of the executive council and the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop.
