VICTORY CUP

TECHNICALS NARROW WIN

The lowly-placed Nada team gave Technical Old Boys a fright at Wakcfleld Park. At the end of ninety minutes' play the scores were even; during the extra twenty minutes played Technical asserted themselves and retained their unbeaten record. A strong nprtherly wind made playing conditions rather difficult, but; the pitch was in splendid condition.

Teams were:—

Technical. — Redmond; Gibson, Parker; Pullen, Beedle, M. Gates; Stewart, A. Gates, Liddicoat, Torrington, and Prosser.

Nada. — Guppy; T. Swinburne, Ronald; McLellan, Rolls, M. Swinburne; Henderson, Duffy, ,Dewar, Quirke, and Corin.

Referee: Mr. J. Banks.

Technical kicked off into the wind and after a number of fruitless raids on the Nada goal, play swung to the other end of the field, but the Technical defence was sound. Quirke sent in a, long shot which Parker deflected past Redmond. This goal acted ljke a tonic to the Nada team, who made full use of the wind and sent in a succession of long shots. Redmond brought off a really brilliant save, and play was transferred downfield. A pret'y combined Technical move

enabled A. Gates to equalise. A long shot by Rolls completely deceived Redmond, and at half-time Nada were leading 2-1.

Technical took the offensive immediately on resuming, but the Nada defence proved equal to the occasion, though Guppy was forced to concede numerous corners. The referee admonished a Nada defender for deliberately kicking the ball into touch. Nada played a very robust game during this spell and succeeded in bustling the Technical forwards oPE their game. Technical equalised a few minutes before time; Prosser's shot being deflected by Ronald just out of Guppy's reach. Full-time sounded with the score 2-2.

Technical added two more goals during the extra time. Prosser and Liddicoat being the scorers. The final score was: Technical 4, Nada 2.
