CENSUS AND STATISTICS

Following on. an amusing invitation, which embodied the usual inquiries made by the census and statistics officials- and are' dealt out to citizens at intervals, ? the staffs of the two offices held a very successful dance. The invitation was in schedule style and set out the name, of: the invited guest, occupation for the evening, date, place, ■ musicmakers, dress, and other particulars in quaint style. It evidently appealed to the guests, for the dance (held in the Southern Colledge studio) went with much spirit, the programme, being well balanced with modern and old style dances.

A tap dance was given by Miss L. Jackson and the ; modern Charleston and the quickstep were demonstrated by Mr. and Miss Thomson.

The committee responsible for organising a very pleasant function were Miss R. Recce (who wore black ring velvet), Miss Hollis (lemon floral georgette), Miss Miles (pink satin), Miss Lonergan (white net and taffeta), and Messrs. Davey (hon. sec), Hickmqtt, Rose, Brian, Hayes, and Hutchens.

. Among the dancers were Mesdames Hodgson, Allidice, Tait, Knowles; Misses Gardner, Reid, Webster, Langstone, O'Brien, Richarrtson (2), Reed, Fantham, Broker, Tayjor, McGreevyJ Hobbs, Mawby, Shirley, Louison, V. Reid, Lodge, P. Taylor; and Messrs. K. T.ullett, Beaumont, Taylor, Hicks, Miller, Maxted, Jenkins, Ryan, McCulloch, Mortcnsen, Chisholm, Knowles, Tait, Hodgson, Richardson, Fantham, Blake, Lewis, Jackson, Gage, and M. Vella.
