JAMES SMITH'S FUNCTION
Chilly .out-of-doors, but a perfect evening for. dancing,' was Tuesday last, when the annual staff dance of. James Smith, Ltd., was held at St. Francis Hallr
Attractive frocking and ' colourful decorations gave a very festive air to the occasion. . The great lights' suspended from the ceiling were fringed with gaily-coloured streamers, and masses of streamers were carried from' them to the corners of the hall, silver stars twinkling among the rainbow papers. The supper table looked most inviting, with streamers, flowers, and a posy of sweets at each plate. Several- old-time dances.were particularly popular as were also the "Statue Dance" and the "Monte Carlo."
Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. .P. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. r H. W. Kersley, Mr. W. E. Nicholls and Miss Nicholls, Mr. W. Bear, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Harford; Misses Marjovie Smith, Doreen Kersley; Messrs. Ken Smith, Douglas Smith, and Brian Smith;
Several greatly-appreciated extras were rendered.by Mr. Leslie Jones. A most enjoyable evening concluded with the singing of "Auld-Lang Syne."
