GIFT EVENING
A very happy gathering tooK place at the Brooklyn Rifle Club Hall when 90 young people assembled at the party given by Mrs. H. V. Abbott in honour of Miss Beryl Tunks, who is shortly to be married.
'Miss Tunks is well known in.sporting ( circles as a Wellington A grade basketball representative member of the Kia Toa Club, Wellington Ladies' Swimming Club, V.M.C.A. Gymnasium, arid an officer of the Girls' Brigade movement.
Mrs. Abbott received her guests, wearing a wine matalasse frock with fur-trimmed coatee. Miss Tunks, wearing a charming frock of floral satin, presented her hostess with a beautiful bouquet of freesias and violets.
Mr. J. Graham was M.C. for the evening, and a varied programme of games and competitions was enjoyed. After a buffet supper the opening of the gift parcels by Miss Tunks and her two bridesmaids-elect, Misses Kindall and Ridclell, revealed a delightful assortment of gifts. Miss Tunks thanked Mrs. Abbott and her friends, and Mr. D. Fennington, on behalf of the guests, thanked Mrs. Abbott for a most enjoyable evening, which ended with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
