TAITA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The Taita Women's Institute celebrated its second "birthday" recently by holding a party when there was a large attendance of members and visit- ; ors. Mrs. Foster presided and extended a hearty welcome to all present. Dainty '• floral shoulder sprays were presented ; to the president and committee. Solos : rendered by Mesdames Dillon, Stead- '; man, and Potter were warmly ap- •' plauded, and community singing, led ~by Mrs. Dillon, was much enjoyed. i! Afternoon tea was then served. The tables were attractively decorated with the institute colours of blue and orange, ■. with the addition of dainty 'spring flowers. The birthday cake (made and ; iced by Mrs. Harris) held pride of place on the president's table. The com- ;; petition for the best child's knitted garment was won by Mrs. Dyer, with ; Mrs. Loveridge second.
Stale bread sprinkled with French chalk is excellent for removing dirty patches from wallpaper; rub very gently and change the bread as it gets soiled. '
