AGA KHAN RETIRED

NEW HORSES AT HAWERA

(Special from "Limited.")

HAWERA, August 6. Owner-trainer J. Fryer stated yesterday that he was unlikely to taxc Oriel south to the Grand National Meeting. Consequently Hawera will be unrepresented at the gathering. Preparations for the combined Hunt Clubs' Meeting at New Plymouth are in full swing and the Hawera tracks present a busy appearance daily. The latest to swell the number of horses already being prepared is the three-year-old Master Limond, who has rejoined R. Brough's stable. Master Limond has done well during his letup and has grown into a solid customer, though he may require further time. His dam Mollah, by Bisogne, was from the Camp Fire mare Cymras, who was out of Vivacity. His sire, Resinous, a son of Limond, has not yet had many opportunities. ■

The Colossus maiden Glenthawn has resumed track exercise after a respite since he raced. He has benefited, and is in bright, healthy condition. It should not be hard to place him for a win in a maiden event early. The Cynic hunter Sceptic is a splendid jumper and yesterday gave another faultless exhibition over five of the schooling hurdles. Sceptic is a very promising prospect for hunters' events. Panloff and Just Off, Mr. W. O. Williams's hunters, worked solidly on the sand. Just Off again appeared sore after working.

The three-year-old International is doing splendidly and worked impressively with Wptan. The pair, after pacing a l-ound, came home solidly over six furlongs on the outside in lmin 24sec, International showing to advantage.

Several two-year-olds are being sent along. R.- Brough sprinted Mr. J. Dealy's two Resinous youngsters a couple of furlongs up the back in 26i sec, the filly from Fairy Girl showing to advantage. Fafner and Nuclei registered a similar performance down the home stretch.

[ C. Jackson has decided not to persevere with Aga Khan, and the chestnut has been presented to Mrs. T. Bon.ier, of Mangaweka, for use as a hacK. Aga Khan was boomed as a young horse but was not raced much until acquired by C. Jackson as a four-year-old, for whom' he soon ran but of hacks and later earned some useful open stakes. With twelve firsts and nine placings he won £1924 10s. Tried as a hurdler he shaped poorly, knocking his legs about, particularly a knee, which caused lameness.
