"SIR MODRED" HONOURED
Mr. F. Mussen, who retired last week from routine work as sporting writer of the "Southland Times," but who will remain associated with the paper as a regular sporting contributor, was elected a life member ( of the Invercargi.l Trotting Club at the annual meeting;
Mr. W. Grieve said that Mr. Mussen had been associated with the sport in Southland for many years and had been a fearless and honest writer in support of the sport and Southland horses, riders, and trainers. He had done a great deal for the sport and no man had been more pleased than Mr. Mussen when the Trotting Club had received its. totalisator permit. He was known as an outstanding writer from Auckland to Bluff. Mr. J. B. Thomson, president. of i the club, endorsed Mr. Grieves remarks and stated that the sport and clubs in Southland owed a great debt of' gratitude to Mr. Mussen for his splendid work for racing.
