BARON ALFONSO TO TROT

The Frank Worthy—;Gincta gelding Baron Alfonso, trained at Takanini by F. J. Smith, has proved rather disappointing of late, and it has been decided to try him at the trotting gait. He has not been seriously tested as yet, and it may be some time before he shows proficiency in this department. Baron Alfonso would undoubtedly have been a big stake-earner but for his erratic barrier manners, which .have often spoiled what would otherwise have been excellent winning prospects. He is in splendid order, and will not lack condition when he is next asked to race.:
