KILBIRNIE'S FIELD DAY
The weather was perfect, and the wicket in first-class order when the Kilbirnie Cricket Club held a field day at the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground on Saturday. Three matches were played, the teams comprising club members, captained respectively by W. J. R. Christophersen, S. Ward, Kemp, Lewer. Doherty, and E. Christophersen. Play generally was.marked by low scoring. S. Ward's eleven 220 (Wilson 54, Ward 47 hot out, Turner 30, Clarke 21, Mclvor 20, Rice 16, Lubransky 10) defeated W. Christopherson's team 91 (Ashenden 21). Bowling for the winners, D. Wilson took five wickets for 22 runs, and for the losers L. Wilson took three for 26, K. Allen two for 34, R. Allen one for 3, Ashenden one for 18, and Dumbleton one for 19. Lewer's team 108 (Lewer 35 retired, Eaton 24) defeated Kemp's side 80 (White 23). Bowling Jor Lewer's, Paul, Baker, Rose, Buckley, Lewer, and Eaton all enjoyed flattering figures, while Dunn, for Kemp's eleven, captured five wickets for 8 runs. In the match between E. Christophersen's team, and that led by Doherfy, the former with 158 (Christophersen 58, Hearfield 19, A'Court 15, Haswell 13, Flanagan 11, Bramley 11) defeated Doherty's side 126 (Macklin 32, Frain 26, Doherty 20). The bowling analysis showed Flanagan, Bramley, Christophersen, and Thomas as the most successful for the winners, and for the losers Doherty five wickets for 42, Burgess two for 21, and Frain one for 31 had the best figures.
