CHANGED ATTITUDE

AUSTRIA AM) ITALY

EFFECT OF BOYCOTT

t Received .January 2, 1 p.m.)

ILONDON, January 1

The Vienna correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" says that official circles are showing coolness towards

Italy because Italy, since the Abyssinian war opened, has paid for Austrian imports in Austrian bonds, thus extinguishing Austria's hopes of making heavy profits from Italy.

Because British importing houses arc boycotting Austria as a non-sanclionist country, and because British financiers arc loath to make concessions to help a country which is ostentatiously friendly towards Italy, the leading newspapers, "Reichspost" and "Weltblatt" adopt a new attitude, praising the League, against which they had hitherto upheld Italy.
