ANOTHER GEORGE REVERSE
The George stable had still another rebuff when the rank outsider Revival easily cut down the hot favourite Boomerang to win the Wharekaka Hack Handicap by a couple of lengths Revival was second last when the held settled down, but he moved up fast along the short stretch leading to the straight, and although Bomerang was then well clear Revival finished all over him. , It was Revival's first start since he was acquired a couple of months ago by Mr. W. Smart, of Wellington, and transferred to J. Nelson's stable at Trentham. It was the first win too that Mr. Smart, formerly a successful owner whose horses won the Wellington and Winter Cups among other successes, has had since he re-entered the ranks of owners about twelve months ago The apprentice rider J. Dooley was also enioying his first race success. Revival is a five-year-old brother to Vitaohone and half-brother to Modern, and his only previous success was at Wairarapa last New Year's Day. Boomerang looked the winner to the straight, but he was in trouble at the distance and failed to pull himself together. Though he possesses such Dace this half-brother to Might seems a better horse when ridden in behind, and possibly he has come to a stage as well when he requires longer disNightlass was three lengths off third after being third in nearly all the running. Jewish Lad was a fair fourth, but he ran below his best form, failing to go with the field early and then going wide at the straight. The other pair, Bay Area and Going Gay, were well beaten.
