HAWKE CUP MATCH

MANAWATU'S BIG SCORE

A CENTURY TO OLLIVER

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N.. This Day.

The Hawke Cup cricket match, Manawatu v. Nelson, was continued this morning in brilliant weather, and on a perfect wicket.

Manawatu's not-out men. Olliver and Hearsey, resumed slowly, but Olliver soon attained his century. When the score was 450 Olliver was dropped at mid-oft.

Repeated changes in the bowling failed to stay the batsmen, who scored steadily till Hearsey was given out lbw when his score was 83. The partnership had produced 184 runs.

Berquist played safe and Olliver brought up 500. A few minutes later he cocked up the ball to McGirr for a safe catch. '

After a sterling innings Manawatu were all out for 506.

Nelson opened disastrously, losing two wickets before a run had been scored. Just before the luncheon adjournment McGirr fell a victim to Gallichan, being taken in the slips. Scores:— MANAWATU.
