M.C.C. AT DUNEDIN
OTAGO'S SECOND INNINGS

DUNEDIN, This Day.
The M.C.C. match with Otago was resumed in dull weather and before a very small attendance. A strong wind was blowing across the wicket, which was in perfect order.
Cavanagh (3). the not out batsman, was joined by Uttley, the home side then being 313 behind the Englishmen's first innings total. Uttley opened cautiously but could not get going and after a quarter of an hour's play was out lbw to Parks. 180—6—5.
Smith joined Cavanagh. who , was playing confidently and scoring with clean shots all round the wicket.
Cavanagh continued his steady innings and reached his half-century in 75 minutes with a six into The Terrace. At this stage he had hit seven fours. Smith was playing quietly and the partnership withstood the attack of several changes in the bowling. At the luncheon adjournment Ihe -score was six wickets for 257.
