DANCING CHAMPIONSHIPS

NELSON, This Day. -

As usual, the Motueka Caledonian Society's annual highland gathering attracted a very large attendance.

Gladys Smyth won the New Zealand championship highland reel for girls 12 years and over. Donald Guild (Blenheim) won the South Island championship Irish jig, boys any age, and the provincial championship highland fling was won by Grace Inkster. Others results are as follows:—

Marches. —Murdo McKenzie and John McKenzie (Masterton), equal, 1; Donald Guild (Blenheim), 3. Strathspey and reel: John McKenzie, 1; Murdo McKenzie, 2; S. E. O'Hara (Nelson), 3. Lament: Murdo McKenzie, 1; John McKenzie, 2; S. O'Hara and Donald Guild, equal, 3. Pibroch: John McKenzie and Murdo McKenzie, equal, 1.
