TIN HAT CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Tin Hat Club was held in the R.S.A. rooms on Wednesday, October 10. The social rooms were crowded, over two hundred members being present. The chair was taken by Captain R. H. Nimnio, who kept the gathering in a simmer of laughter with his quaint humour. The Tin Hat Orchestra, under Conductor Paddy Cole, played splendidly. _An excellent programme was submitted—songs by Messrs. T. Bohlson, V. Jones, S. MeDonagh; piano solo, Mr. R. Brown; ventriloquist, Mr. C. Burridge; thumbnail sketch, Messrs. J. Rogers and S. Philpott; duet, Maoriland (in costume), Messrs. J. Rogers and J. Russell. A delightfully humorous and informative lecturette was given by Mr. F. H. Bnkewell on the, characteristics of the British soldiery. .He quoted not from British histories hut from Spanish and French sources. The lecture was listened to with rapt attention and added very much to a delightful evening. At the supper interval the health of tile chairman (Captain Kimmo) and Colonel 11. X Avery, patron of the club, were drunk with' musical honours. The next meeting of the club will be held on Wednesday, November 14.
