AUSTRALIAN COAL
PROSPECTS OF MINERS
SYDNEY, March 23. Beplying to a coalminers' deputation today Senator MeLachlan, Minister in Charge of Development, said: "It is no use you miners cherishing the delusion that there will be a revival in the coal industry. Most of you must cast about for other means of livelihood. Hydrogenation or arfy other process will not completely solve the unemployment problem on the coalfields." He added that if Australia is to produce oil from coal it must look to the hydrogenation process and abandon any ideas of low temperature carbonisation.
