The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated October 27, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the week at Smithfield market and London stores, compared with those of the previous week iv parentheses: — New Zealand sheep: Canterbury and North Island crossbred wethsrs, 4S-56, 4%d per lb (4?id); Canterbury and North Island maiden ewes, 57-64, i l-8d (4 1-Sd); selected, (3.3-72, 3 7-8 d (3%d); North Island, 4S-50, 454 d (4%d); 57-04, 4d (4d); 05-72, 3%d (3%d); ewes, 48-undcr, 3%d (3 5-Sd); 48-64, 3 3-Sd (3 3-Sd); 65-72, 3%d (3 l-8d). New Zealand lambs: Canterbury, 36----under, 7 5-8 d (7'/ 2 d); 3742, 7%d (7d); 43-50, 6 3-Sd (6 3-8 d); second quality, average 32, 7d (7d); other South Island brands, 36-imder, 7%d (7%d); 37-42, 7%d (7d); 43-50, 6 3-Sd (6'4d). . New Zealand beef: Ox, fores, 2 5-Sd (2 5-8 d); hinds, 3Ud (3%d). Argentine chilled beef: Ox, fores, 3%d (3 5-8 d); 'hinds, 6%d (6 3-8 d). Australian frozen beef: Ox crops, over 100, 2%d (2%d); hinds, over IGO, 3 3-.Sd (3 3-8 d). New Zealand prime porker pigs: 60-80, 6%d, (0%d); 81-100, 6d (6d); 101-120, 5 5-8 d (o^d); New Zealand baconer pigs, 120-160, 5%d (5%d). Lamb market: Steady owing to short stocks, but demand is still affected by home-killed supplies. Mutton market: Wethers firm with fair trade. Ewes steady with better prices. Beef market: Prices unchanged, but demand increasing owing to better prices Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand porker pigs: Meeting with good demand, with prices steady. New Zealand baconer pigs: Nominal. No sales reported owing to temporary low prices of Continental bacon.
