MARANUI MEETING
The Maranui Club was' also rewarded by an excellent attendance at its annual meeting, and from the keenness shown by those present there is every reason to believe that the club will proceed with the same enthusiasm as has been shown in previous seasons. The successes gained last year were well up to the high standard of the club, and the incoming officials can be relied upon to see that members will receive _ the necessary training to preserve their record. As with other life-saving clubs, the new surf competition rules will engage a lot of attention for the early part of the season, but on the competitive side the membership will not be neglected and the usual programme of events will again be carried out. Owing to no suitable dates being available, the opening day ceremony will not be held until the first week in December, but the late date should not affect the proceedings, which are usually of a happy nature.
