ARBITRATION COURT

A sitting of the Arbitration Court was held today to hear an, application by the Gisborne Builders' and Contractors' Union of Employers for a new award for the Poverty Bay district. Mr. T. O. Bishop and Mr. M. J. White appeared for the employers, and Mr. C. E. Biekford for the Poverty Bay Labourers' Union! It was understood that the Cook and Waikohu Counties would appear and apply ior exemption from the award. His Honour Mr. Justice Frazer said that formal citation of the counties named had not been done, and therefore the counties could not be bound by a new award. • The proceedings were adjourned to enable the Court to consider the matter and give a formal decision.
