N.Z. EX LIBRIS SOCIETY

A general meeting of the New Zealand Ex Libris Society was held last Wednesday. A short paper dealing with- New Zealand book-plate artists and their work! was read by the president (Mr. Johannes C. Andersen), also a paper by R. Holloway, of the Auckland branch of the society, dealing with typographical plates. Representative examples of the work of New Zealand artists were exhibited, illustrating the different methods employed— engraving, etching, pen-drawing, lino.-cuts, woodcuts, typographical, photography, and half-tone blocks. Original drawings for plates by P. Watts Rule, of Timaru, and W. S. Percy, now of Edinburgh, were also shown. It was resolved to issue in the neat future a second brochure dealing particularly with the work of New Zealand artists, including illustrations of their work and a list of artiste, and plates produced.
