THREE LITTLE PLAYS

NEW ZEALAND WRITERS

The growing interest of the dramaloving public in original Work was clearly evinced last evening in the large audience which filled the Repertory Hall, where Miss Hardingc-Maltby presented three one-act plays by New Zealand authors, two of whom are residents of Wellington. The first to be presented, "Still Waters," was a drama, enacted, in a farmhouse, written by Mary Scott. The players were Miss Hardinge-Maltby, Miss Isobel MeKenzie, Mr. Vincent Freeth, Mr. J. Allan, Mr. Robert Charlton, and Mr. Stanley Collins. In pleasant contrast was Miss Eva Butts's amusing modern playlet, an episode in a Wellington home, entitled "The Satin Slippers." Those who took parts were Miss Dorothy Molinaar, Miss M. E. Ahem, Miss Ngaere Horton, Miss Miriam McGimpesy, Mr. E. North, and Mr. F. H. Dawn. "Tho Green ■ Handkerchief," adapted from a story by Miss Catherine Keddell, was set in an Irish village, and was admirably played by Miss Keddell, Miss Girleen Griffiths, Mr. Norman Byrne, and Mr. W. J. MeEldowney. Among the audience were Mrs. V. Freeth, Mrs. Horton, Miss Eva Butts, Mr. and Mrs. Gray, Miss Jessie Forbes, Mrs. Sterling, Miss Janet Sterliiig, Mrs. [ Ina Allan, Miss C. Morice, Misses Z. land E. Chapman, Mrs. Mitchell; Miss Ik. Matier, Mrs. J. Collins, Miss Elsie JFord, Mrs. Amos, Misses Wemyss (2), | Miss P. Bridge, and Miss J. Collins.
