KIRKWOOD AT LAST
J. H. Kirkwood's win of the Canadian open title on Saturday constitutes his first major golf win. It was an aggregate worthy of any event, 71, 72, 70, and a final round of 69, three under par. Kirkwood is 36, still a young man, and now that he seems to have settled down to steady competitive play, may yet annex some of the more coveted titles. He won the Australian and New Zealand championships in 1920. In 1921 he reached the final of the £1000 Glencagles tournament, tied for third place in the British open in 1927, was fourth in 1923, and tied for sixth place in 1921. He won the open championship of Illinois in 1923, and won the Lossiemouth tournament in 1922. Formerly he was professional to the Riversdale Golf Club, Melbourne.
