CARTERTON PRICES
Wright, Stophcnson, and Co., Ltd., report that they offered a very large entry of dairy cattle anil several pens of sheep at the Carterton sale yesterday. All.cattlo pens-wero full, and over 100 springing heifers were offered. The entry rather exceeded the demand, with the result that lute culvers and cattle not in condition were hard to quit. Best quality heifers, on drop, met animated competition, and showed a slight increase on the general price for the season. Store cattle and fats made late rates, while pigs sold well, showing an . advance on last. week. There is at present a particularly strong demand for good wcanere. Prices were: — IS.F. hoggets, to 12s (id; hogget's, to 12s Id; fat hoggets, 27s (id. Cattle: Second' calvws, £5 to £5 ss; springing heifers (good), £5 to £0 15s; heifers, £3 to £4 10s; Inter culvers, 37s Gel. to £2 15s; springing cows, £3 5s to £5 ss; later calvers, 30s to £2 7s 6d; heifers, r.W.b., 20s to £2 7s; empty heifers, lCs to £2 ss; fat cows, to £2 7s; forwardconditioned cows, 23s to 30s; store cows, 14s to 18s; Jersey bulls, 20s to 40s. Pigs: Weanors (small), 9s to 10s; weaners, Us to 17s; slips, to lf)s; porkers (light), 21s 6d; porkers, to 30s; sows lo farrow, £4 10s. AT EKETAHUNA. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., offered: a heavy yarding of dairy 'cows and heifers to a good attendance of buyers .at the Eketahuua'sale yesterday. Best quality springing heifers met with a good sale; but the demand for ■ ordinary sorts and cows was poor. Following are the . prices:—Best springing heifers, £4 to £5; . medium sorts, £3 to £3 15s; late calvers, £2 to £2 10s; best cows, on drop, to £4 ss; medium sorts, £3 to £3 10s; late calvers, £2 to £2 15s.
