V.M.C.A. APPEAL
ENCOURAGING RESPONSE
A very encouraging response i.s being received to the urgent appeal for funds on behalf of the Wellington V.M.C.A. The effort will be in progress until September 30, and has resolved itself into two distinct phases: (a) Citizens' appeal effort; (b) members' queen carnival. The directors acknowledge, also a large quantity of gifts in kind from city firms. Mr. J. O. Priestley has promised a free motor tour in connection with the winning of a competition, and in this connection an aeroplane trip also has been promised. Mr. Thorns has donated a cake fov competition purposes.
