APPEAL FOR FUNDS
PROTECTION SOCIETY
Tho Society for the Protection, of Womcii and Children held'a very successful "bridge" party in the Tudor Boom at Messrs. Kirkcaklio and Stains yesterday. Tho room looked bright and comfortable, and tho Rotari&n emblem on the wall seemed quite in looping with the atmosphere of ■willing cheerfulness; ■-■'-. - ■ • .■• . ■ • ■ The arrangements were* made by a committee, of three ladies, Mrs. Gr. E. Hunter, Mrs. Norman-Jones, and Mrs. Ilarlcy-Brown. Messrs.- Kirkcaldio and Stains donated two very attractive .prizes, the one for "auction bridge" being won by Mrs. Ballard, and- that for "contract bridge" jointly by Mrs. Thompson and Miss J. Hall. '■■ Little. Miss Beryl Brown did a brisk trade in sweets and painted match boxes. Among those who arranged tables were Mosdamcs Allison, Anderson, Ardell, Barr, Blundell, Bothamley, Brools;----man, Bruce,' Burdekiiij Chaytor, Car-wcll-Cooke, Davidson, Ferguson, Firth, Grainger, Guiin, Haire, Haligan, Hardcastle, Kcrr, McDiamid, McKenasie, Ncl-son-Jon.qs, Q'Lo.ary, .'.Koso, , Stewart, Thompson, Towiilcy, 'Wilson, WimbCr]ey, and Young; Misses Banks, Davy, Hall, and Van Staveren. Many who were unable to bo present sent donations, and the committee thanks all who responded so willingly to its appeal.
