MOTHERS' UNION

EASTBOURNE-POINT HOWARD

Tho Day's Bay members acted as hostesses at the reecut meeting of the Eastbourne branch of tho Mothers' Union, which was held in St. Martin's Schoolroom, Day's Bay. Mrs. Eaino (president) received tho speaker, Miss B. Humphries,.of Lower Hutt, who gave a most interesting talk of a four months' holiday spent in San Francisco. There was a large attendance of members, and tho address was thoroughly enjoyed by all. On behalf of those present the secretary thanked the speaker for her address. A pleasing feature was tho presence of a number of mothers from Point Howard, who were specially welcomed by Mrs. Raiue. Community singing, with Mrs. Hertzog officiating at the piano, brought a very happy afternoon to a close.

During the previous week nineteen members of the branch, paid a visit to Point Howard, and gave an afternoon to the mothers there. The vicar and Mrs. Raine had charge of the arrange.ments, and Mrs. Yaldwyn, Mrs. Spooner, and Mrs. McNicol arranged the- room at Point Howard, Community singing, games, and a humorous recitation by Mrs. R. Johnstone, were followed by tea. Mrs! McNicol returned thanks for the "Hill Mothers," and expressed tho hope that the. visit was only the forerunner of many others.
