MANAKAU PLANS
. Mrs. L. Atkins presided over a large attendance at the recent meeting of the Manakau Women's Institute. One new member was proposed and welcomed. Tho president read the balance-sheet of the dance held recently to raise funds. This was a most enjoyable function ailcl was largely, attended. Mrs. Dorset (delegate to' the ■Christchurch conference) gave :in interesting report of her visit to tho South Island and of the work of the conference. It was decided that the Institute givo every assistance to tho Manakau Progressive Association and help in every way possible with si children's fancy dress dance to bo held about the middle of September. Arrangements were", made in connection with tho second birthday party at the Manakau Town Hall. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdamcs L. Staples, Miles, Noes, Rolands, and Misses Rose and Phillips. Mrs. Linton Knight was the winnerof a honey jar—the prize for a guessing competition. ..'. ,
