HOSPITAL BEATEN AGAIN
Waterside scored ah easy win at Porirua, defeating an unsettled Hospital eleven by i goals to'l. It was a dull match, brightened only by Waterside's four first-class goals. The teams were:— ■ ■ • • ■ Waterside.—Shipp; Abernethy, Guest; McLellan, Bird, Upchureh; Baistow, Dunnsmuir, McLeod, Patterson, James. Hospital—Ell; Miles, . Thompson; Soutar, Briggs, Simon; Marshall, Jeffrey, Woods, Gibb, Windley.". . Colourless football marked the first spell, in which honours were easy between .the two teams,' in spite of. Waterside's 1-0 lead at half-time. Hospital had the advantage of the sun and were occasionally dangerous, but Shipp -was right on form in goal "and let nothing past him. The goal was' scored off a free kick half-way through the spell. Bird took the kick from about 25 yards out, and his rising shot hit the bottom of the cross bar and bounced sharply clown and into the net, giving Ell no chance. Waterside 1. Hospital 0. Straight from the kick-oft after the interval Waterside rushed the Hospital goal and Patterson scored a beauty with a, Ion?, low.shot.:: 'Waterside 2, Hospital 0. Play swung to the other end. v/here 'in...'-a melee Shipp..saved' well. He was hurt, h v.-ever,, and the fflßme was stopped for a minute or two until he was able to. resume. Hospital continued to: attack, strenuously,, but without much combination and several corner kicks were the only result of their efforts. With twenty, minutes to go MeLeod. the Waterside centre forward, put his side still further ahead with a splendid shot from well out. Waterside 3, Hospital 0. Shortly afterwards the same player beat Miles and after a short solo run sent a perfect cross shot into the back of the net. Waterside i. Hospital 0.
