KARORI BEAT HUTT
Karori and Hutt, the leading teams in the competition, provided a fast and open game which ended in a win for Karori by 3 goals to nil. Hutt were without the services of McLeod in the half-line, and his absence was severely felt. During the first ten minutes of the game Hutt played one man short. There were several fine individual performances, notably those of Smallwood and Gray, Hutt half and fullback respectively, K. Perrin, Jialf,_ and Moore, goalkeeper for Karori. Karori had a lead of. two goals at the interval, but the Hutt defence proved more stubborn in the second spell, and the forwards also improved, although they were not equal to the task of passing the Karori backs. The combination on both sides was sound, Karori's teamwork in particular being a feature of the frame. R. Watchman, the Karori centre forward, was given good opportunities which enabled him to score two goals. Perrin was responsible for the other goal, which was scored following a freehit in the Hutt twenty-five a few minutes after the start of the game. The referees were Messrs. H. Hatch and W. A. Scott.
