LOWER HUTT BOROUGH
COUNCIL
The fortnightly meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held yesterday. There were present Mr. AV. T. Strand (Mayor), and Councillors A. MeBain, W. G. Meldrum, W. H. Wilson, A. Anderson, D. S. Patrick, F. Campbell, A.! Grierson, B. Ginger.
The Hutt Dental Clinic and the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society thanked the council for donations.
The Primary- Schools' Association thanked the council for the use of the recreation ground for a sports meeting.
The * committee which interviewed the Commissioner of Crown Lands on the question of making a payment towards the Gracefield sewerage work reported that it was hopeful that the Government would pay for the materials and the supervision of one man, amounting approximately to £400. ' . ! .. ' . ■ • .
It was decided to pay the small unexpended balances of two loans into the sinking funds of the loans.
\The Parks Committee reported that the Waiwhetu Scouts had accepted the council's offer of a site on the Awamutu reserve for a Scout hall, the rental to be a peppercorn one of 10s per annum. _
The baths custodian reported that for February the receipts had been : £2B' 2s Id, as against £23 14s 7d in February, 1932. The total to date for the season was £150 16s lid, as against £154 7s 4d for the same period last year.
It was decided that a report should be submitted to the next council meeting in regard to the Lower Hutt Lawn Tennis Club's lease of courts from the council.
