WESLEY CLUB'S MEETING
In mentioning that the past season was not a very successful one, either financially or m respect of the number of games won the report of the Wesley Hockey Club, presented to the annual meeting last week, stated that the senior team lost six of its players at the. commencement of the season and consequently the lower grades were weakened. During the season a match was played at Wanganui and was won, but the club was unable to field a team at Christchurch. The Phillpotts Cup match-was played at Wellington and resulted in a draw, so that the trophy was to be shared by the club and by Wanganui. It was regretted that more members did not avail themselves of the opportunities for practice.
The club ,is now" commencing its thirtieth year.
Although the club. still had ■ a credit balance amounting to £73 2s 6d, there was a loss on the past season mainly owing to payments under the insurance fund for which no income was received. The meeting decided to make a levy of Is per member this season in aid of the fund.
The "Wanganui Club's invitation to visit there after Easter was accepted, and the matter referred to the management committee;
Mr! S. B. Browne's offer to give 'lectures on the game and the amended rules was accepted. .
