UNIVERSITY CLUB
The annual meeting of the Victoria University College Hockey Club was held last Thursday. Mr. G. S. Simpson presided.
Reference to the recent sudden death of the patron of the club (Mr. C. Hain) was made by the chairman, who read a letter which had been received from Mr. C. H. Hain thanking the club for its expression of sympathy and stating that Mrs. Haiti, jun., intended to give effect to the wish of ,the late Mr. Hain that she should donate a Hain stick each season as he had done during his lifetime. As a token of respect for the late Mr. Hain, those present stood in silence for a few moments. '...":
The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted after a short discussion.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. 6. F. Dixon; president, Mr. A. M. Cousins; vice-presidents,-Mr. justice Smith, Mr. R. St. J. Beere, Messrs. S. Eichelbaum, C. Watson, A. Dunn, G. H. Seddon.S. J. Castle, N.A: Foden, C. H. Hain, I. H. McArthur, |E. G. McLeod, F. H. Paul, J. L.MacDuff, C. S. Plank (all re-elected), and Mr. G. S. Simpson; club captain, Mr. E. O. Shield; honorary secretary, Mr. K. •J. Scott; honorary treasurer, Mr. I. Mclntosh; committee, Messrs. H. F. Bollard, K. N. Struthers, and K. Tahiwi; delegates to the Wellington Hockey Association, Messrs. H. F. Bollard and K. N. Struthers. Votes of thanks were moved to the retiring club captain (Mr. G. S. Simpson), the retiring secretary • (Mr. E. 0.. Shield), who had held office for two years, and to •the retiring treasurer (Mr. F. H. Stewart). During the evening the new club captain addressed those present on the importance of attending practices. ■; The alteration in rules and a proposed change in uniform were discussed.
