PROBLEM TO SOLVE
WORLD WHEAT SURPLUS

NEW YORK, Marcli 24.
The "New York Times" Washington correspondent states that President Roosevelt indicated today that he considers the world wheat surplus problem must be solved coincident with the domestic programme.
After conferences with officials of tho Agricultural Department, the State Department announced that if; would ask countries producing a surplus of wheat, such as Australia, Canada, and Argentina, if discussions of tho international situation at tiie Economic Conference would be agreeable. Tho Department will also try to sound the Governments as to., how" far they are ablo to go to wards, controlling production.
It is understood that wheat-growing countries, particularly Canada, are concerned over the world market situai tion, as in the event of enactment of [the Administration's Farm Relief Bill fjicy fear, the siibsidy would allow American farmers to undersell the world.
The League of Nations has already requested information from tho United States as to what plans it will present to the Conference.
