TRANSPORT CONTROL
UNION IN WAIRARAPA
.(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
MASTEBTO3ST, This Day.
A distinct move in the direction of enforced amalgamations in transport with a view to economy has been made by the No. 6 Transport Licensing Authority, of which Mr. G. A. Troup is chairman, during its current sittings in Masterton.
On Saturday the authority heard more or less competitive applications for licences on the Masterton-Palmers-ton North route and the MartinboroughMasterton route. In both instances a decision was postponed until today and the applicants were asked to confer with a view either to amalgamation or to one buying the other out. It was more than hinted that if voluntary action were not taken in that direction it might be enforced.
The authority sat here all day on Friday and for half a day on Saturday, and is to sit again this afternoon.
