SALES TAX
ISSUE, OF REGULATIONS
In connection with the licensing of wholesalers and manufacturing retailers under the provisions of the Sales Tax Act, 1932-33, unforeseen .difficulties have arisen which have delayed the gazetting of the necessary regulations prescribing the forms to be used.
The Government is desirous that the particulars required by the forms should as far as possible be readily obtainable from the existing accounting books of tho various classes of taxpayers concerned. This has necessitated a considerable amount of inquiry and consequent delay in issuing the regulations.
• It is expected that the regulations will be issued at an early date, but in view of, the circumstances indicated no action will be taken by tho Government merely because persons have not been duly licensed, provided that applications for licences are received by collectors of sales tax within twenty-one days after the gazetting of the regulations.
