DAIRY BOARD ADVICES
The Dairy Board reports prices of New I Zealand salt butter in London-at close ofS business this week at 71s'to 72s per, cwt, and special lines up to 745; and 74s to 76s for unsalted. Australian butter is selling at Is per cwt under these prices. Siberian butter, 725; Latvian, unsalted, 78s; South African, 66s to 70s.
•'Retail-prices .'for butter are lOd for New Zealand and Is for Danish.
Stocks of'biitter are'heavy;. The Empire Marketing Board's estimate'of all butters in store in Britain at this date was 810,580 boxes, compared with 381,898 boxes last year.
The New Zealand stocks of butter are 7550 tons, compared with 4376 tons held at this time last year. Australian stocks are 4704, against 3301 at the end of March last year.
The Dairy Board describes the butter market as "quiet, irregular." • Cheese shows a declining market. New Zealand white ;is- down .to 40s to 41s per cwt and coloured 48s to 495. New Zealand cheese, is selling retail at 6d per lb. Canadian cheese is selling at: 60s to 68s per cwt for white and coloured. The, stock position" is as follows:— ' . A. LS. Patterson and Co.' and A. H. Turnbull and Co. are; advised by cable that the cheese market is "steadier" and the butter market "quiet" or "slow."
