Wellington brokers- held their usual fortnightly sales yesterday. Competition was brisk, sheepskins selling at par with last sale's level. Hides showed a slight advance on the level of last sale, light and medrem ox bsing ■%'! better, heavy ox %d easier; kip, yearling and calf, par. There was a better inquiry for hides from overseas buyers. The range of prices is as follows:—Dry sheepskins: Half bred 4d to sd, fine crossbred 3d to 4%d, medium 5!%d to 3'M, coarse VyzOl to, 29id, half wools l'/id to 3d, quarter wools Id to 2'/id pelts %d to 2d. LONDON, March 24.
Offerings at • the wool sales today were 9345 ■ bales, including 459 New South Wales, 708 -Queensland,. 1290 Victorian, 488 West Australian* 203 Tasmaniah, five South Australian, and 5G26 New Zealand. Approximately 704G bales were sold.
The offerings were mostly cleared under good-Home and Continental competition. The better grades of merinos realised full rates, 'but crossbreds were irregular, and are now about par of the opening level of prices. Merinos, New South Wales '•Bellevue," 12d highest, ll&d average; Victorian, "Wandodale," 13% d highest 13% d average; West Australian, "Tailermg," 10% d highest; lOd average; Tasmanian, "Merton Vale," 17d highest, 14d average; scoured merinos. Queensland, "Bowen Downs," 18d highest, 1G l-8d average; New Zealand, "Waratah," 17d highest, 16 5-8 d average.
