CRIMINAL CASE AT NAPIER

NAPIEB, This Day. Three criminal cases—two prisoners appearing for trial and one for sentence—as well as a fairly long list of civil actions were set down for hearing when the quarterly session of the Supreme Cqurt opened at Napier this morning, Mr. Justice Blah* presiding. True Bills were returned in the case in which Donald Arnott and Margaret 801 l were jointly charged with attempted rape, and also in a case in which Desmond Kenny is charged with attempted rape at Makutuku on October 1, 1926.

In regard to the first case his Honour said it would no' doubt seem unusual that there should be a charge of attempted rape against a woman. 'It was alleged, however, that the woman was there to assist in the commission of a crime,
