BOUTS AT OTAKI

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

OTAKI, 10th February.

The first "wrestling bouts of any importance held in Otaki took place on Wednesday night. • There was a; good attendance, and'great enthusiasm was manifested. The arrangements, thanks to Mr. I). Bichards and his committee, were quite satisfactory. Mr. Bichards, who acted ■as director of ceremonies,: announced each bout and introduced Mr. Koolman, "the well-known ' profes-l sional wrestler, who acted as referee. The bouts resulted:—

Janiieson (Wellington);, 9st 71b, beat Eckersley (P&lmertson. North), 9st 41b, securing a "fall with a cross-buttock in the third round just on the call of time..

Archibald' (Wellington), lOst 91b, beat J. Fafeita (Otaki), lOst 101b. Fafeita secured, a fall in the first round by a body scissors ana aim-bar. Archi-. bald evened' with, a half-Nelson, wrist-! lock, and body press in the next round, and got the decision in the third.

Hutchison (Wellington), Bst 131b, beat Anthony (Palmerston North), 9st 31b. Ho was very aggressive, in the third round. " :

Eajos, (Wellington), list 51b, beat Cocka (Palmerston North), list 21b. He; secured a fall in the first round.

Two midgets, Bruco Blooman and Teddy Wright, both of .Wellington; provided entertainment. A,draw was deelaied. '

Jones (Wellington), list 51b, beat Tai Metora^Otaki), list 101b, securing two falls to one.

As there' had been a dispute in the Hutchison-Jamieson contest, a threeminute bout' was agreed to. Hutchison won on points. . \

Two lads, Tom. Hakaraia (Otaki) and Teddy Wright (Wellington) wrestled a draw. '

Anderson, list 131b, and Pajo, list 111b, provided a lively bout/ which ended in a draw. •

Edwards (Palmerston North), list 101b, beat Bangi (Otaki), list. There was little between them.

Koolman gave a demonstration of holda. ■■■■'•

Cups were presented to Hutchison and Anthony, for providing the most scientific bout, to Eekcrsley and Jamieson for the best bout, to Motera for being the most successful local performer, to Cocks for his fino showing with Eajos, to Nicholls, Pafeita, Edwards, and Archibald, also the- lads, Hakaraia and Wright.
