A' further1 development, in connection with the Dargaville disqualification case occurred .when the Auckland District Rae* ing Committee increased the sentence on Cyril E. Powell,, of Whangarei,from disqualification'for three to disqualification for-'Oife.^':■•,: o's^.V. ... : The'^original •sentence of three years wag imposed by- the Judicial Committee of' the ' DafgaviUe Racing Club, on. the ground ftliat; Powell -was'guilty of corrupt and fraudulent practice within the meaning of the Rules' of Racing, by conspiring to assist Tetrarchate to win the President's Handicap at Dargaville on 3rd December. - . • The District Committee called lipott Powell to show; cause .'why, the sentence should not be .increased, and/he was. pre* sent at to-day's meeting. Powell is' a brother of Mr. R;:A. Powell, •of Dargaville, owner of Bronza Tray, which ran.unplaced in the race.
