NAVAL RESERVISTS' RACE
dumber 1 Company of the Wellington Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve beat No. 2 Company oft Tuesday evening, winning the divisional Whaler Cup. Mr. E. Bell, who gave the trophy, made the presentation, congratulating the crew oil its victory. ' The winning boat's crew comprised:— Stroke, Petty-Officer Mallite; three, A. B. Westcott; four, A. B. Parker; bow, 0. S. Cook; cox, Leading Seaman Sparke. Lieutenant Siuythe was coach. The course was along the Thorndon breastwork, the distance being 1150 yards. From the commencement both crews rowed against a bead wind and choppy sea, the coxswains being tested to their utmost. For most of the distance the boak were neck /and neck. Number 1, howWer, lasted out better, and won by a length and a halt. The time was Train 20sec,. - ' ' ' ' .
