REV. JAMES MOORE
The Bey. James Moore, missioner of the Sailors' Friend Society, died rather suddenly at Picton last evening, where he was spending a holiday. The Jat© Mr. Moore, .-who was very well known in the city, came to Wellington from Bristol about 40 years ago to establish the Mission to Seamen. Some ten years later, Mrs. W. E. Williams donated the land and erected the building which has been used by the evangelical mission ever since. * Prior to coming to Now Zealand, Mr; Moore was for several years in charge, of tho Manchestor Ship Canal Mission. One of Mr. -Moore's last public appearances in Wellington was at the recent annual meeting of the Sailors' I'nend Society, ou which occasion tributes to his good work wero paid by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloc, ■Mr. Justice Ostler, and the Hon. J. Q. Cobbe, Minister of Justice.. The late .Mr. Moore is survived by his widow, who.was associated with nor husband in his nujeion work The funeral w#take place in-Wel-lington. The casket will be conveyed to the Mission building, Whitmore' street to-morrow, pr;ior to the 11 o 'clock service. The- funeral service is at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. ;■
