SEATOUN MEETING
Mrs. Alex. Smith was in the chair at the recent meeting of the Seatoun League of Mothers. The hall was beautifully decorated with ranunculi, stocks, and azaleas. The speaker for the afternoon waa Mrs. Watson, and the subject, "Choosing Suitable Books for Children.'^ Mrs. Watson said that good reading helped children to obtain a sense of proportion and a balanced judgment. She thought it was impossible for them to read or learn too much history, aa students of history could never hold shallow or crude ideas. Mrs. Watson then mentioned a list of carefully selected books, and concluded j her lecture by_ exhorting parents to read to their children. She quoted, some versea from, a New Zealand poetess. Dr. Maysie Gow proposed a vote of thanks to the speaker. Mrs. G. T. Kellaway delighted all with her songs. Tea was served, after which there was a social half-hour.
